Seven Business Chakras

I recently read the book GREAT BY CHOICE written by Jim Collins and Morten T. Hansen. As I came across the core attributes of the 10x companies described in this book (Fanatic Discipline, Empirical Creativity and Productive Paranoia), I connected the dots to my thoughts on the various life critical flows in our human body or Chakras.

It is said that the holistic health of a person depends on the flow of the energy in the Chakras. Similarly, I believe the holistic health of a business depends on the continuous flow (of materials, money, information, knowledge, emotions, etc.) in these seven Chakras.

The Business Wisdom flows in this Success Chakra through the drivers of the other Chakras, Intolerance for Interruptions, Awareness for Authenticity and Excitement for Evolution, driven by the Ambition. I would compare this to the Crown Chakra and sustainable growth for the business flows through this Success Chakra.

The Learning flows in this Growth Chakra through the various mindsets in an organization from Standards to Standards, driven by Excitement for Evolution. I would compare this to the Third Eye Chakra and is accountable for getting people to perceive the unseen and continually learn.

The Improvements flow in this Progress Chakra through the various barriers in an organization from Standards to Standards, driven by Excitement for Evolution. I would compare this to the Throat Chakra and is primordial for communicating, convincing, driving and implementing improvements when there is no need.

The Performance flows in this Bottom-Up Chakra through the hierarchy levels in an organization from People to People, driven again by Awareness for Authenticity. I would compare this to the Heart Chakra and is essential for recognitions and motivation.

The Directives flow in this Top-Down Chakra through the hierarchy levels in an organization from People to People, driven by Awareness for Authenticity. I would compare this to the Solar Plexus Chakra and is in charge for direction and control.

The Finance/Cash flows in this Continuity Chakra through the various entities involved in a business from Market to Market, again driven by Intolerance for Interruptions. I would compare this to the Sacral Chakra and is mandatory for business continuum.

The Products/Services flow in this Rhythm Chakra through the various functions in a business from Market to Market, driven by Intolerance for Interruptions. I would compare this to the Root Chakra and is responsible for the livelihood of the business.

I am amazed at the synchronicity in combining these flows with the three fundamental attributes of the leaders of the 10x companies.

Intolerance for Interruptions is so much needed in the basics instead of peaks and valleys when it comes to the Products/Services and Finances/Cash, both driven by the Market. It would be obvious that to restore this flow, one needs to work on both Products/Services and Finances/Cash for meeting the requirements of Market. Or in other words, Market Focus!

Awareness for Authenticity is so much needed in consistently evolving instead of sporadic revolutions when it comes to Directives and Performance, both driven by People. It would be obvious that to restore this flow, one needs to work on both Directives and Performance for meeting the requirements of People. Or in other words, People Focus!

Excitement for Evolution is so much needed, especially in complacent organizations, to create a fire when there is no fire when it comes to Improvements and Learning, both driven by Standards. It would be obvious that to restore this flow, one needs to work on both Improvements and Learning for meeting the requirements of Standards. Or in other words, Standards Focus!

In the assignments I have done so far, I can directly relate to the root cause being a missing focus on either the People, Market or Standards. Seldom was the focus on Market missing, since, this is driven externally. However, in most other cases either the People or Standards focus was missing. Working on the missing focus, stabilized the flow and achieved sustainable improvements. I am mentioning this in conclusion, only to support that my connection of dots that I explained initially can be applicated immediately.

  1. Very interesting, Mr. Murthy. It logically makes sense to connect the two seemingly disparaging concepts now that I read about them. Especially your conclusion – as I was reading your post, I was reflecting on the successful and not successful projects that my company has undertaken over the years. And by golly, what you observed made sense. We are a software development company, so not all manufacturing analogies apply to me. But the projects where we have failed have been because of lack of focus on either people or process (you say people or standards, which is basically the same thing).

  2. Very nicely articulated . You tried to bring the importance of 10 chakras into business. Very well observed.
    I do believe that human blood circulatory system can be compared to any business organisation. As long as there is flow , all organs / functions well. Moment there is a stagnation/ hindrance to flow , we start experiencing issues/ problems.
    Preventive and corrective measures which apply to human health is synonymous with business organisation as well.
    The decision point is who is the head/ brain and who is the heart.

  3. Great write up. Connecting business model to chakras in our body and explaining it was a good read. Yes I feel everything and every action can be explained and related to them.

  4. Your findings confirm to basic cognitive concept of life cycle. i.e., consecutive cognitive links of Electron-Proton and Neutron in an atom. Elemental qualities in the above order of cognition makes the sense at micro and at macro level in any substance or in any subject.
